Moyers on America: “Is God Green?”

First aired on PBS affiliates on October 11, this documentary is a valuable tool to help interpret the intertwining of religion and ecology in the 21st century. What happens when the religious right finds common ground with the liberal left? Will the evangelicals, a heretofore critical part of the Republican base, pull away from the Bush agenda on the environment? Will this administration be forced to shift away from its view that the environment is simply a resource to be exploited, to something more palatable to progressives? Will liberal Christians become more connected to their more conservative cousins based on their mutual connection to the environmental movement? This well researched documentary by the Baptist seminarian turned politician turned journalist, Bill Moyers, sheds a sharp light on these intriguing questions.

From a dynamic conservative church in Boise, Idaho, to an evangelical activist group known as Christians for the Mountains in West Virginia, Moyers looks at what real Christians on the ground, like the readers of Earthkeeping News, are doing and saying about their faith and their concern for the environment.

A DVD of this show may be ordered on-line at www.shoppbs.org (go to "Bill Moyers Shop" on the lower left side of the screen.) The cost is $29.95 plus taxes and shipping.
