International Season of Creation

Norman Habel of Adelaide, Australia, coordinator of the project, invites individuals and worshipping communities everywhere to join in celebrating the four Sundays prior to October 3, 2005, St. Francis of Assisi Day, as a Season of Creation.

Habel explains, "In a Season of Creation we will:

  • "Celebrate Earth as a sacred planet filled with God's vibrant presence.
  • "Unite with all creation in praising the God whose Spirit gives life to all creation. Confess our sins not only against the weak in society, but our crimes against forests, waters, lands and skies.
  • "Embrace all our kin in creation as our extended family.
  • "Celebrate the Cosmic Christ who fills all things, reconciles all things and renews all things.
  • "Become partners with Christ in the healing of creation."

Those who participate in the project will receive a 3-year cycle of readings; Bible studies for each set of readings; liturgies with poetry and songs for each Sunday; worship resources with a family focus; and CDs for visual presentations.

For more information, or to join the project, write Dr. Norman Habel, 10 University Way, Bellevue Heights, SA 5050, Australia. nhabel@esc.net.au
