Action Alert

The historic Climate Stewardship Act (CSA) was reintroduced to Congress in 2005 with the promise of firm cuts in heat-trapping gases that contribute to global warming. The CSA is the most significant piece of climate change legislation to be introduced in recent years. For several years momentum has been building for the CSA's market-based approach, which supports clean alternatives to our nation's transportation and energy needs.

In March Senator Lieberman, co-sponsor of the bill with Senator McCain, spoke with leading evangelicals about supporting this bill. He was invited to speak at the gathering in Washington by, among others, Rev. Ted Haggard, head of the National Association of Evangelicals, Jim Ball of the Evangelical Environmental Network and Rev. Ron Sider of the Evangelicals for Social Action.

Let's join the evangelicals in supporting the CSA bill, S291. Contact your Senators and encourage their support for this important bill. To find out how your Senators voted on S291 in 2003, check out the following website: http://climatenetwork.org/uscanweb/csadocs/mlvote.pdf.
