Environmentally Engaged Churches Form Network

A coalition of Environmentally Concerned Congregations began to organize in a follow-up to the “Bringing the Church Down to Earth” conference. Hosted by the Alliance for Sustainability, the New Earth Partnership of the Lutheran Church of the Reformation and the Lutheran Coalition on Public Policy, over 30 representatives of churches and synagogues met in St. Paul on July 14 to discuss ways in which environmentally engaged congregations in Minnesota, and possibly Wisconsin, can work together to make connections between spirituality and nature, and to coordinate strategies for bringing about lasting changes to preserve the environment.

A brainstorming retreat is being planned for early October in or near the Twin Cities. For more information or to express interest, contact Rev. Mark Peters, Lutheran Coalition on Public Policy of Minnesota, peters@lcppm.org, 651-224-5499.
