BATS IN THE BELFREY

Researchers have found endangered Indiana bats among a colony of 18,000 bats roosting in the attic of an old church near Pennsylvania's Canoe Creek State Park. Because of the bat's "very specific requirements for summer roosting," in lowland forests near water, they "often are threatened by human populations" and "this is the first time ever that anyone has found Indiana bats roosting in a building."
