QUAKERS LAUNCH ECO-WITNESS NETWORK

Initiated by the Friends Committee on Unity with Nature (FCUN), the Eco-Witness Network (QEW) promotes US government and corporate policies to help restore and protect Earth's biological integrity. It works for policies that enable human communities to relate in mutually enhancing ways to the ecosystems of which they are a part (from Mission Statement).

The Quaker Eco-Bulletin (QEB), a two-page insert in BeFriending Creation, provides information on legislation and corporate policy issues from a faith-based perspective, sources of additional information, and action opportunities. QEB, in addition to the printed form, is posted on the FCUN website. To receive the bulletin by e-mail , send a request to QEW@FCUN.org.

QEW coordinators are Kim Carlyle, (NC) 828/626-2572; Elaine Caldwell Emmi, (UT) 801/582-0719; Ed Dreby, (NJ) 609/261-8190; Keith Helmuth, (PA) 215/545-3417.

Update: Sept 2004

The group is now called Quaker Earthcare Witness and has a new website address, www.quakerearthcare.org and a new e-mail address, info@quakerearthcare.org. Also, the Quaker Earthcare Witness project previously known as Quaker Eco-Witness (QEW) is now called "Quaker Eco-Witness for National Legislation" (QNL), partly to avoid confusion of acronyms.
