AN ECO-CHURCH CIRCLE BEHIND WALLS

by Rev. Finley Schaef
87 Stoll Rd., Saugerties NY 12477

In May, I conducted the first Eco-Church Circle meeting at the Woodbourne Correctional Facility near Albany. Ten inmates, who had completed 5 different courses of the Certificate in Ministry program of the New York Theological Seminary, participated. The young men, both Moslem and Christian, were from Guyana, Jamaica, Haiti, New York and North Carolina. Part of the original group has continued to meet, with lively discussion of biblical passages as well as life in the prison.
