Drawing together insights from religion, ethics, economics and the sciences, the book shows how the environmental predicament relates to a variety of crises afflicting modern society. The author believes there is still reason to hope.

Prance, Director of London's Kew Gardens, applies his scientific knowledge and Christian beliefs to the basic questions surrounding the environmental concerns of the 20th century.

Ecotherapy: Healing Ourselves, Healing the Earth, by Howard Clinebell, PhD ($17.95; $3 p & h), 1996 The Haworth Press, 10 Alice St., Binghamton NY 13904. Clinebell brings together long overlooked issues at the boundary between mental and physical human health and the health of the natural environment; plus theories and methods of ecological diagnosis, treatment and education.
