CLIMATE CHANGE RESOURCE PACKETS AVAILABLE FOR EARTH DAY

Resource packets with a new study guide, It's God's World: Christians, the Environment and Climate Change, plus worship materials on climate change, produced by the Eco-Justice Working Group of the National Council of Churches, are being mailed to participating congregations in March.

Signers of the climate change petition are asking their government to take steps required to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, to establish policies that promote renewable energy resources, energy efficiency, reframed market incentives, new consumption patterns and conservation; and to maximize public participation in exploring solutions.

The International Campaign on Climate Change, initiated by the World Council of Churches, is supported by the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople, Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, Lutheran World Federation, World Alliance of Reformed Churches, World YMCA and YWCA, General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, Disciples Ecumenical Consultative Council, Climate Change Network and many other organizations. Churches in Japan have recently joined the campaign.

Signed petitions, received by April 21, will be included in the US Presentation to the United Nations leaders dealing with climate change.

For campaign petitions and more information on climate change, contact the coordinator for USA: the Office of Environmental Justice of the Presbyterian Church (USA), 100 Witherspoon St., Room 3069, Louisville KY 40202-1396; 502/569-5809.
