WORLD FOOD DAY, OCTOBER 16

World Food Summit: Promises and Prospects is the title of the 14th Annual World Food Day Teleconference, to be broadcast live from George Washington University, Thursday Oct.16, 12 noon to 3:00 PM, EST. Panelists from around the world will report on steps being taken to implement the commitments made at the November 1996 Food Summit in Rome. The accompanying Study/Action Packet will provide background material. The strongest message from the Summit was that all stakeholders must be involved if we are to ensure food for all. Building on the momentum of that meeting, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) around the world are developing national "plans of action" that will carry out its goals.

Last year there were at least a dozen different kinds of teleconference sites — campuses, church centers, city halls, hospitals, high schools, hotels, embassies and many networks. There are no restrictions on videotaping the program.
