CELEBRATING THE COMPLETED LIFE OF JAMES F. BERRY
April 11, 1917 - September 7, 1997
It is with sadness that we note the death of our friend James F. Berry. It is
with deep gratitude that we reflect on his commitment and contributions to social
and environmental justice during his life. As a student and supporter of the work
of his brother, Father Thomas Berry, Jim worked tirelessly since his retirement from
the Air Force in 1968 to help faith communities embrace protection of the Earth as
a religious commitment. We will miss his insightful newsletters and the yearly conferences
sponsored by his organization, Center for Reflection on the Second Law (CRSL).
Jim was a member of the Board of Directors of the North American Conference on
Christianity and Ecology since its founding in 1986, and its President, 1992 - 94.
We remember him for his loving spirit, his enthusiasm and his wonderful ability
to generate ideas and proposals during Board meetings.
