A diverse group of grassroots practitioners, knowledgeable resource persons, theologians and scientists together will examine how four twentieth century movements — Christian Ecofeminism, Science and New Cosmology, Ecojustice, and Alternative Economics — can help revitalize communities of faith . There will be time for other workshops as well. The Congress (not a conference) is an occasion for dialogue, celebration, and deciding on new directions.Written proceedings and a video will document the historic event. We have chosen these movements because they have profound implications for communities of faith today. Christian Ecofeminism How does ecofeminism, with its powerful and insightful critique of our current crisis, provide the churches with the elements for a much needed new vision as well as an ethic of care that takes into account all of creation? Science and New Cosmology How does the story of the evolution of the universe, which modern science has given us, provide an adequate context for changing our lifestyles to live in harmony with God's Creation, and strengthen our Christian faith? Ecojustice Understanding that we are all interconnected in the web of life, what does it mean for the churches to stand in solidarity with the oppressed of all of creation?
