EARTHKEEPING NEWS A NEWSLETTER OF THE NORTH AMERICAN COALITION FOR CHRISTIANITY AND ECOLOGY Volume Five, Number Four March/April 1996 Babbitt Visits Portland, OR, Faith and Ecology Group Secretary of the Interior Bruce Babbitt met with religious leaders February 28 at an interfaith gathering organized by Jenny Holmes, Co-Chair of Oregon's Interfaith Network for Earth Concerns (INEC) . Following the meeting, he participated with the group in a stream restoration project, re-planting native plants along the Fanno, a degraded urban stream in the Portland area. The Secretary was on a two day swing through the Northwest to support local partnership efforts to improve the environment. He was impressed with INEC's recent conference on Ethics, Economics and Endangered Species, and expressed his special interest in the religious dimension of protecting the earth.
