Volume Four, Number Six July/August 1995 EVE THANKS A CONGREGATION FOR ITS CARE FOR CREATIONNo one expected to see Eve, in person, toting a basket and holding a carrot, right there in Arlington (VA) Presbyterian Church on Earth Day Sunday morning. Eve joked about having to wear glasses because her first bite had been not of the carrot, but instead of the now famous apple. She spoke longingly of the beauty and splendor of birds, growing plants, Adam and the freshness of the Garden of Eden. She was quick to add that she had heard of the diligent work church members had been doing to restore creation to its original vibrancy. Presenting tokens of appreciation, she thanked seven youth and youthful-in-outlook for watering and fertilizing the plants and maintaining the efficient recycling of cans, glass and white paper in the church.
