Volume Two, Number Four March/April 1993 'HANDS OF HEALING' IS THEME OF SOIL AND WATER STEWARDSHIP WEEKThe National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) has chosen for Soil and Water Stewardship Week (SWSW) a theme and materials that are relevant to people in suburban and urban, as well as rural, areas. "Hands of Healing" emphasizes the fact that the greatest positive influence on the environment will come from individuals doing ordinary, thoughtful tasks in their neighborhoods. Districts are encouraged to recognize local citizens who have made meaningful contributions to the environment. "Helping Hands" recognition certificates will be available for both children and adults. While the official dates for Soil and Water Stewardship Week are April 25 - May 2, 1993, literature is designed to allow greater flexibility for ministers and others to observe the event at a more convenient time. For packets and more information write the NACD Service Center, P.O. Box 855, League City TX 77574, or phone toll free (800) 825-5547.
