EARTHKEEPING NEWS A NEWSLETTER OF THE NORTH AMERICAN COALITION FOR CHRISTIANITY AND ECOLOGY Volume Two, Number Three January/February 1993 NACCE PUTS NEW EMPHASIS ON REGIONAL NETWORKING Since its initial conference in 1987 at North Webster IN, the NACCE has helped individuals and faith communities focus on Christianity's ecological dimension by promoting regional conferences, providing resources, and publishing the Firmament journal and Earthkeeping News. At its October 1992 meeting the Board of Directors voted to restructure the North American Conference on Christianity and Ecology to make it more responsive to the needs of individuals and local communities of faith. Beginning April 1, 1993, NACCE will operate in two sections, Membership Services and Contract Services. 1. Membership Services for individuals and faith communities affiliated with NACCE, will be under the oversight of the Membership/Newsletter Committee. The committee plans to set up a clearinghouse of information, partly through a timely networking newsletter (currently Earthkeeping News.) The office will also connect the regional "eco-congregation" clusters through a hospitality network and an affiliate program which could offer special services such as an electronic bulletin board, and help in initiating congregational ecology core groups. The office will initiate and/or co-sponsor regional and national conferences on special topics or for sharing models that work. It will promote ecumenical programs and link seminarians to environmental education opportunities in local churches. The Membership Services budget includes individual and affiliate memberships as well as special fundraising efforts. 2. Contract Services, under the oversight of the Program Committee of the Board, will be responsible for selected programs which address affairs at the denominational and national levels, such as the Green Cross program, international church/ecology tours (see Russian Tour), denominational packets, and some publications.
